Summerset Stoke
Project Overview
A five year labour of love, Summerset Stoke is Nelson Tasman’s largest retirement complex, and a substantial milestone in the history of Scott Construction.
At over 8 hectares and 5 years, Summerset Stoke is a cornerstone project for both Scott as a company and in the careers of Scott staff. Construction started in August 2011, with dozens of units surrounding a central Clubhouse containing a library, lounge, activity areas, a bar, gymnasium, spa, pool and sports lawns. The complex also includes a 48 bed apartment block and a hospital building.
Taking over from previous contractors, Scott met all quarterly targets and won yearly tender contracts for the duration of the project. At the height of construction, Scott had 37 carpenters and 30 sub-trades on site. Given early residents lived onsite, Scott continuously had to manage construction requirements with noise and activity limitations. Despite those limitations and the scale of the project, Summerset Stoke was completed early and on budget.
