Betts Corner Apartments
Project Overview
Bett’s Corner comprises two main towers with 17 luxury residential apartments in a range of configurations above a basement with 22 carparks. Located in the heart of Nelson, the apartments have been custom designed to meet the owners’ specific requirements. Using a variety of materials including timber screens, all apartments have access to at least one outside balcony and shared green space. Taking into consideration the scale and complexity of the build, the team are proud to deliver a high-end architectural project that is iconic for Nelson’s CBD.
Beginning with a challenging central site on the corner of two busy roads, the project involved 55,000 man hours, 3500 cubic metres of excavation, 70 tons of reinforcing and 850 cubic metres of concrete floors and beams, Betts rates 30% above earthquake code.

This apartment block project demonstrates what can be achieved when likeminded people come together, forming a syndicate to undertake a challenging project. They all brought their specialised skills, finding the site with a design that met the Council’s specific requirements to purchase. The 17 apartments differ in shape and size, all fitting nicely into the tight corner site. Construction challenges abounded from the wet basement for cars, below the restricted road corner and lifting the many precast panels and steel frame types. The complexity and finish of the apartments is of the highest order, meeting the demands of the syndicate members and pre-purchased owners. The project is a standout for Nelson and a model for an alternative project delivery. They should be proud of the outcome.
