Project Overview

Following a competitive tender, Scott Construction were awarded this contract on the basis of innovative value engineering solutions. The Seafood Precinct at Port Nelson consists of a 1500m2 building with an exposed glulam and LVL timber structure through Nelson Pine, Potius timber flooring and Potius warm roof, structural steel portals and curtain wall glazing. The different spaces include staff cafeteria, modern offices, laboratories, cool rooms and workshops. The project involved complex security, communications, heating, cooling, ventilation, hydraulic, fire & electrical systems. Strict environmental management was required due to the building’s location on remediate land adjacent to the harbour.

“I found Scotts to be a high quality contractor , easy to work with and solutions focused. The few niggles we had were due to design flaws and not construction. They did not walk away from issues when they could have, but stayed involved and were committed to helping find a solution. The construction foreman was superb, finding solutions and accommodating changes that we requested in a positive way. Their approach to H&S was comprehensive and effective. Having Justin to go to for local and quick decision making (even though it was hardly needed ) was valuable. I felt the project was well run and managed by Scotts and that I would happily work with them on future projects.”
