Round One Win For Scott Construction Formula 1 Power Boat
There was immense atmosphere in the opening round of the Formula 1 Power Boat Tour this weekend; a round of near misses, lost power-steering and detached boat parts.
In ‘Scott Construction’ Juilan Stilwell managed to pull off the win out of a field of 12 boats on the tight river course in Wanganui.
The boat drew Pole 3 for the first race, and had a tough battle with Lone Wolf to get 1st across the whole race. Julian appeared to have a bit more speed but lost power steering and was struggling to hang onto the boat in the rough conditions. To add to the excitement, Price’s rear boat cowling flew off half way through the race. Julian ended up just pipping him at the finish to take the win.
Next, with still “no go” on the power steering and now starting in rear grid of six boats, Julian was not looking forward to the race but managed to make his way up to 3rd, which gave him enough points to take the Round win.
