May 2013: Saxton GOLD!
There is no doubt about it, attention to detail pays off – as it should! Tonight we won GOLD in the New Zealand Commercial Project Awards (tourism and leisure category), at the 2013 Registered Master Builders Awards for the Saxton Oval Pavilion.
It’s one of those buildings with very little tolerance as the structure is on show for everyone to see. The accuracy had to be perfect.
We are very proud of this building designed by Arthouse Architecture. The councils could have put up a box, but they put their faith in the architects and let it happen. It has already become an iconic regional building (you can’t miss it!), and it is one that everyone can enjoy; kids playing Summer cricket or Winter football, athletics’ competitors and businesses using the function facilities.
We had a pretty tight timeframe (XX months), it was technically difficult, and then the Christchurch earthquakes happened in the middle of construction. But, we had great people on board and it was one of those jobs everybody was positive about. We had a team of XX working on this project, and our main sub-contractors were xyz and xyz…..
A big shout out to our foreman Nathan Edwards, who has been with the company for 14 years. Nathan managed the project, helping to make it a success.
