NELSON: KFC BUILDING
A new building was constructed over a 12 week period whilst the existing store on the same site remained in operation resulting in very little downtime for the client.
The KFC Nelson design is split over two levels, allowing for access from ground level to the first floor through a pre-cast concrete staircase. The ground floor is predominately the kitchen and staff areas, with an intimate dining area inside, and a spacious outdoor dining area near the entrance. The façade offers a dynamic and architectural response to the coastal location.
Cedar louvres and insulclad exterior plaster offer durable, subtle cladding solutions for this building. Sustainability features of this project include the protection of a 100 year old Heritage Order, Canary Island Palm Tree, LED low energy light fittings, and local timber and concrete products. There is also an intricately designed drive thru system with incorporated, weight distribution, and sound sensitive technology.
