supporting the community
We love to give back to our community, and over the years have selected a number of teams, individuals and events to support including:
The Scott Construction Formula One Boat of Julian Stilwell. Our former company founder Kevin used to race Formula One boats, so he was keen to sponsor Julian, who for many years was national champion.
The Robertson’s Trolley Derby. In 2010 and 2011 we sponsored the Nippers category of the iconic Robertson’s Trolley Derby. The derby is a fantastic event for team building and was fun for our staff members’ children to try something new with their parents.
The Nelson Marlborough Falcons. In the Nelson Marlborough Falcons’ inaugural national youth league season of 2013 and in Summer 2014 we sponsored our project manager Mark Johnston, who was the team’s Captain and then Assistant Coach. We sponsored the team again in the Spring 2014 season, with Mark following his coaching dream by becoming Head Coach of the Falcons. The team also reached their dream that year after finishing top of the NZ ASB Youth League under the committed coaching of Mark. At Scott’s we believe in the longevity of this important pathway for youth football across the Top of the South.
The Tasman Makos. Scott Construction is a Makos 500 Club member and very proud of the team’s achievement to become a finalist in their first year in the ITM Cup in 2014.
Light Nelson. We were Silver Sponsors of the inaugural 2013 event, which attracted 16,000 in a single weekend, hopefully cementing this event as a permanent bi-annual Nelson winter fixture.
Harlequins Rugby Football Club Senior Division 2 ‘Cobras’. John Tovey, General Manager for Scott Construction Marlborough is also the Team Manager for the team. The Scott’s team are right behind the ‘Cobras’!
Other sponsorships have included: Cameron Ford – NZ cycling rep, Jaxon Carver – multisport rep, Nelson Lions, Nelson Suburbs Football Club, Cancer Society, Scott Construction Touch Rugby Team.
